This was one of the busiest weekends I’ve had so far. From movie screenings to networking events, I was all over the city. Thanks to Mitsubishi, I was able to get around town on a budget.
BLACK PANTHER
I am the sub-committee lead for Red Carpet Initiatives for the East Point/College Park Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This was my first big event. We renting out a private theater just for us.
The movie was amazing!! I’ve seen it twice already. The messages received in the movie, the cinematography, the storyline — it was much bigger than a superhero movie. I encourage you to see it and show these companies and producers that movies with Black casts can do well in the box office.
STICKS AND STYLE
Dionne from Closet Whisperer hosted her monthly Sticks & Style networking series at Trilogy. I was one of the co-hosts. I had a great time as this was my first time attending. Trilogy is a very cute cigar bar in the city and it was a nice crowd. I most of all like going to events where I don’t know anyone because it forces me to be social. I’m an introvert and am comfortable around the same people all the time. This gave me the opportunity to meet some new people and network. I look forward to the next one. They are the third Fridays of the month. Thank you so much for inviting me.
SCHOOL DAZE
This event blew my mind. I had so much fun at the School Daze 30th anniversary at the Fox Theater. Imagine the Rocky horror picture show but with thousands of HBCU alumni and Greeks.
Spike Lee was in attendance and we danced and sang the entire movie. It appeared like everyone in the theater knew the entire script. The most memorable moment was Tisha Campbell’s “I Don’t Want to be Alone Tonight”. Im pretty sure everyone was singing along.
This is one of favorite movies and it didn’t disappoint. Seeing so many black people at the Fox excited , happy and singing, it was a truly beautiful experience. It’s one of the reasons I went to an HBCU. (I would’ve had it no other way though)
MITSUBISHI
Wow! What a weekend. Thank you Mitsubishi for helping me get around during my busy week. The gas in the car let me get all around the city and didn’t cost much to refill. I’m all about an efficient car.
