Girls Trip: Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa

After 3 week of intensive travel, landing in Tulum with some of my favorite ladies for a girl’s press trip was exactly what I needed. We we’re hosted by the Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa and our friends at Mom Trends (you don’t know their site, check it out!). While I’m generally an adventurers with a long list of to when visiting Mexico, we didn’t leave the property. If you scroll to the bottom of the post though, I’ll list off some of my favorite to do’s for anyone doing an extensive stay). For our 2 night, 36 hour stay, downtime was definitely appreciated for a quick getaway. It was a nice change of pace to just relax at an all-inclusive resort, and have actual pool time and relaxation.

There’s something amazing about not having an agenda, and knowing the biggest decision you’ll have to make is pool or ocean. The all-inclusive resort featured incredibly views, several restaurants – El Patio (Mexican cuisine), Himitsu (Asian fusion), and Portofino, which features a wine cellar — several pools with full service and entertainment. We enjoyed everything from yoga on the beach, dance lessons, kayaking, tequila tasting, to an acrobatic show, and even a courtyard market that was set up by local vendors. The resort is nicely hidden and secluded along a white sand beach and very private. They also offer a number of green programs, tours and other on and off property activities so be sure to inquire upon arrival (or booking).

With garden landscapes, beach views, tropical surroundings, and a grandiose lobby featuring staircases on either side (it looks like a home straight out of Dynasty), there isn’t a shortage of picturesque moments – it’s an Instagrammers dream. They also have life size backgammon, chess, as well as shuffleboard and ping pong outside. We had a lot of fun doing photo-shoots on the property.

While I didn’t make it to the Dreams Spa by Pevonia on the property (If you don’t know Pevonia, it’s an exceptional skincare brand), we did get rave reviews by someone coming out of the property that it’s exceptional. They offer hydrotherapy, jungle & beach treatment cabins, and indigenous Mayan treatments – which sounds kind of amazing!

We were welcomed with champagne; golf carted to our room (not too shabby), and toured around the properties magnificent Mexican colonial architecture. The landscape is stunning, so much greenery and color. The rooms, while large aren’t as contemporary and could use an update, but clean, spacious with a gorgeous marble bathroom that included a separate tub and shower. The rooms also include a furnished outdoor area or balcony. And although it has high-speed wifi, we often had trouble connecting or it was very slow so have a back up router or alternative if you’re on a work trip. The again, it’s Mexico, so disconnecting isn’t a bad thing.

The resort is very family friendly with loads to do for kids but also offers adult only areas and quiet pool so you have the best of both worlds.

The property also offers a VIP Preferred Club, and private beach area for guests with status and other perks. Both the public and private area of the hotel is lovely with great poolside service and exceptional drinks. And with no money exchange it made it really fun and easy to just relax and enjoy the experience. Overall this is a budget luxury resort between a 3 and 4 star property and an affordable option for the all-inclusive vacationer looking to not lift a finger.

The hotel is conveniently located in closer proximity to the major excursions, shopping and dining areas. Although with everything being covered in the hotel package it made it hard to leave!

If you are looking for activities to do local points of interest include: the town of Tulum (boho trendy with shops and great dining), ancient Mayan Ruins, eco-adventure park of Xel-Ha, world’s 2nd largert barrier reet, underground rivers, caves, jungles, Tours to Cenotres, Coba Mayan Tuins, Chichen-Itza Mayan Ruins, xcaret Eco-archeological theme park, Cozumel, Kohunlich and more. Many of these are on the way to Playa de Carmen and Cancun (where you fly in from) so it’s great to do to or from your trip to the airport.
