Looking for a fairly inexpensive date that’s fun? Check out the High Museum! They have a couple of date nights that you will want to take your bae (or potential bae ).
Tickets are $14.50 and admission into the museum automatically gets you into the festivities of First and Third Friday. You should purchase online to save a little time when you arrive. You can hop in the will call line.
First Friday
6pm-9pm
First Fridays is a lot of fun. When I went this past week, they had free tarot card readings from Modern Mystic Shop in Ponce City Market. ( I got an interesting reading and will definitely be making an appointment).
They also had complimentary dance lessons and DJ lessons. Each session, they taught a different style of dance from salsa to disco. It was a lot of fun (we watched mostly lol)
They also had an art component. The activity this month was making magnets using sharpies to design.
We got there around 6:20 and it wasn’t super crowded then, but by 7:15 it was very crowded. You could partake in the activities or you can walk around the museum.
They describe First Friday as part art-party and part happy hour. You can purchase cocktails and light bites.
Closer to the date, you can see a description of who will be there and what activities you can do.
Third Friday
6pm-Midnight
Third Fridays is jazz night. Hosted by WCLK, they have a range of jazz musicians to entertain the crowd. We got here around 7 or so and it was crowded already. This is clearly date night or girls night out night!
The thing I loved most is it’s all ages and cultures enjoying art and jazz!
Get there early if you want a seat to enjoy the music. Or you can walk around like we did — look at art and enjoy the music from afar.
I missed this last time, but from 6-9, you can sketch a live clothed model. I’ll have to get there in time for that… and to catch a seat to watch the musicians.
