How to Use Sugar and Salt And Actually Have Beautiful Black Skin

Sugar, Salt Scrub for Black Skin CareSugar, salt and black skin care. Really? They can spice up the appearance of your beautiful black skin and make your face and body feel and look oh, so nice!

A Natural Hydrator, Sugar Is Good for Black Skin Care

When it’s time to remove unwanted dull looking dry skin, sugar can come to your rescue.  Sugar draws moisture from the environment into your skin. This makes it a natural hydrator. Bye the way, we’re not talking about granulated sugar.

It’s also a natural source for glycolic acid which penetrates your skin encouraging cell turnover and giving you a fresher, younger looking skin. When used on your face, it’s always best to use a sunscreen.

Body scrubs are another way of using sugar on your skin. You can give yourself  a body scrub with sugar as one of the ingredients.   The small particles found in sugar make an excellent topical exfoliant.

Which Sugar is Better for Dark Skin Beauties?

Brown sugar is much better for your skin than granulated sugar. Raw sugar also known as turbinado sugar, is naturally course and typically reserved for body use. Some of you use coffee grinders to make a fine powder out of turbinado sugar chunks.

This makes it lighter in texture and much easier to work with when creating products for your skin. Did you know that Sugaring, a form of hair removal, has become quite popular in the U.S? Often used to create a paste, when sugar is applied to your skin, it will remove hair as if you were being waxed.

Can Salt Be Used in Caring for Black Skin?

Magnesium and sulfate is what you get when you add Epsom salt to water. Epsom salt is used in a lot of baths that detox or draw out the toxins from your body. You can add essential oils to the mix, not only for aroma but for the therapeutic benefits they offer to enhance the salt.

Sea salt is another type of salt used for detoxification and exfoliation. Typically gathered from the Dead Sea, it can help remove dead skin cells that often make your skin look dry, ashy and flaky. This dull gray ashy looking skin can hide the beautiful moist skin that’s hidden beneath.

Pink Himalayan salt is considered the best of salts when it comes to detoxing your skin. This quite frankly will depend on the challenge you’re treating.  However, when you add Himalayan salt to your bath, the water is known for carrying the electrical charge of the salt and dissolved minerals into your skin.

When you add natural ingredients like Shea butter, olive or grape seed oils, you get a blend that’s fit for the perfect scrub. Enhance it with an essential oil or two and you could end up with an aromatic blend that’s relaxing or therapeutic.

Sugar, Salt or a combination of the two (more sugar than salt) and a little oil make a great exfoliant for removing dead skin cells from your body.  Slough away the dull, ashy, skin and watch as your new soft, moisturized skin becomes your best friend.

Sugars and Salts are Becoming Go-to-Ingredients in Skin and Body Products

If you’re looking for a body scrub or exfoliation product for your face and body, the combination of sugar and salt can certainly rise to the top on your list. The two give an interesting and unique approach when it comes to caring for your beautiful black skin.

That’s it for this week. As always …
