This is probably my 15th year of coming to the Essence Festival if not longer. I am a true vet. Yep, I used to go when it was only aunties going… and now, I AM an auntie going (well I’ve been a literally aunt since 3 years old lol).
This year , the heat was on a thousand and I realized I’m just too old to get through the day and night events lol. I missed a ton of events but did get to some great parties.
(oh yeah, so I colored my hair pink temporarily– it came out waaayy brighter than I wanted )
I went to the convention center the first day and heeded to the Beauty Carnaval. Maui Moisture hooked me up with a braided style by @Braided__
Spotify had a Spotify House honoring their Are & Be station and I got a chance to see Ari Lenox perform for the first time. I’m not a fan (I don’t listen to the radio so had never heard her music )
(Dress from Rent The Runway <— discount on first month )
Disney invited me to two brunches and I got a chance to check out more info on their upcoming projects including The Lion King AND Disney +, their new streaming service. I’m super excited about seeing The Lion King next weekend.
Oh… and I’m totally not too old to put on Minnie Mouse ears! I secretly want to visit Disney World soon. I haven’t been since I was five years old.
Cantu had a fun pool party at the Ace Hotel. Definitely great vibes
I also went to an OWN party with all of the cast members from the OWN shows but I don’t have photo evidence lol.
Would’ve had to see it on my IG stories. Make sure you’re following me @lexiwiththecurls
Essence was great. New Orleans could’ve turned on the air a little more outside lol.
Oh and I stopped by my favorite place for dinner Superior Seafood in the Garden District!
New Orleans never lets me down!
