School is in session. As you are buying those textbooks, school supplies and new wardrobe items, don’t forget to plan your natural hairstyles for back to school too. You gotta look fresh queen!
If you have ever been curious about natural hairstyles, then now is your time! Whether you are a high school student, college scholar or a teacher, back to school is the time to let those curls, kinks, coils, and waves loose. Keep up your summertime natural hair game and let it flow over into your school regime.
Here are some natural hairstyles you’ll be proud to rock this school year!:

1- Box Braids
One of the most popular protective hairstyles for black women, box braids have seen a comeback in the last few years. Rock them long or short, thick or thin and in all different colors. This hairstyle will last you a long time and make your beauty routine in the mornings quick and seamless. It’s also a great protective style to rock when you are trying to grow your natural hair. Be sure to use your KSM Growth + Restore Butter Cream to strengthen your hair. Off to school you go!

2- Locs
Locs, short for dreadlocks, could be considered by some as the mother of all natural hairstyles. What better time to try this natural look than back to school? If you have a relaxer, then your process will start with a big cut and then off to your back to natural journey. If you are already natural, then you will start by twisting your hair. Spray some floral water, like the KSM Lavender Water, on your locs as a light refresher for your mane.

3- Twist Outs
Hydrate, moisturize, detangle, twist, dry and untwist. Twist outs are a cute natural style to truly embody those kinks, coils, curls, and waves. You can do the LOC (Liquid-Oil-Cream) Method for adding and retaining moisture. Our Lavender LOC Set comes with everything you need + a bonus scrub. It will keep those twists hydrated and soft as it is packed with proteins, antioxidants, and vitamins. Check out this tutorial on how to achieve the perfect twist out.

4- Afro
No, it’s not the 70s, but flare denim and afros are indeed making a comeback! When it comes to afros, the bigger the better. As they say, the higher the hair, the closer to heaven! Use a KSM oil, like the Avocado & Oil Medley as it will give your fro the shine and softness it needs.

5-6 The Pineapple + Head Wrap
The pineapple is a loose, high ponytail on the top of your head. It first started out as a protective hairstyle used at night to protect curls and prevent frizz, knots, and bending of curls that happens when you lie on your pillow. Don’t forget to use your favorite KSM Butter Cream to moisturize that back-to-school, all natural hair. Rock it proudly atop your head, and wear that hair like a crown, queen! A cute printed head wrap just adds an extra slay to the look, giving you multiple options to choose from.

7- Puffs
Slick it back with a headband, pull it to one side or part it down the middle and wear it in doubles, the puff hairstyle is in this fall! From celebrities like Lupita Nyongo rocking the look on the red carpet to you showcasing your puffs on your college campus, this look is sure to knock ‘em dead.
