Winter skin care. Do you have a good skin care regimen? With the temperatures dropping your skin is probably screaming for help. Let’s face it, dry, itchy skin is no fun.
Not only will the weather turn on you, your living environment will possibly do the same. Your heating system can cause challenges to your skin just as severe as the weather.
Depending on your heating system, it can produce dry air in your living space adding to the dryness of your skin. A humidifier might be the thing to add to your home, especially your bedroom.
That being said, aside from a good cream based cleanser, you’ll need two mainstay items as part of your winter skin care regimen. They are a good rich moisturizer and serum.
Winter Skin Care With Serums and Moisturizers
Why do you need both? Let’s find out !
Serums nourish and nurture your skin. They improve your skin’s firmness while making it smooth to touch. This can only mean it makes you look younger.
Serums are typically water based. This makes them absorb faster into your skin without any breakouts. Serums are formulated to be delivery systems to your inner skin layers. This means they won’t have ingredients like mineral oil or petroleum.
Guess what? Serums actually work. They contain up to 70% active ingredients. Meaning, if your serum has been formulated to take care of even skin tones, reduce fine lines, brighten, firm or minimize dark spot… it should work.
Moisturizers can reduce the chances of skin problems. During the winter months the air can be drying and suck the moisture from your skin. The job of a moisturizer is to boosts hydration in your skin and prevent flaking and dullness.
Should you choose not to wear a moisturizer during the winter months, your wrinkles could look deeper. This can ultimately cause inflammation, a breakdown in your collagen level and accelerate the aging process.
How Can You Use Both?
It’s simple to use both actually. Apply your serum to your skin after you cleanse and tone. You’ll want to do this morning and night. Moist skin is 10 times more permeable than dry skin.
Winter skin might require a bit more of each. Be consistent and by Spring Season, your skin will thank you for it.
That’s it for this week. As always …
