Is Your Beautiful Complexion Safe Behind the Mask?

Is your beautiful complexion safe behind the mask?Is your beautiful complexion safe behind the mask you’re forced to wear? Since the onslaught of the Coronavirus, mask have become a fixed appendage on your face.

What does wearing a mask for long hours daily do to your skin?

Are mask the face of the future?

What Happens to Your Skin Behind the Mask?

You’re being encouraged to wear cloth face coverings to curb the spread of COVID-19. I don’t know about you, but most of the mask I see are not cloth. And even with cloth, can you breathe?!

I feel trapped behind my mask. I’ve tested everyone I could get my hands on. My skin itches behind ALL of them. I obviously wash the cloth ones before I wear them, not only does my face itch, my eyes run.

Sounds like an allergy, to something. Could it be the fabric or the detergent?

I cannot wear my mask in the car. Several are in sandwich bags as backup. I kid you not, when I come out of the grocery store, my mask feels dirty and so does my skin. So that mask is tossed into a separate bag for laundry.

Let’s Get To Your Skin Behind The Mask

What’s happening with your skin?

  • When your skin doesn’t breathe for hours at a time, you will experience rashes, chafing and breakouts. Your breath is trapped behind those mask causing heat and moisture.
  • Some people can’t afford cloth mask and are wearing and re-wearing disposable mask for days. This becomes a breeding ground for germs, bacteria and anything else that will make itself known.
  • As the temperature rises in the heat of summer, you will also see skin discoloration. The sun will darken the skin around your mask, leaving what’s not exposed to be lighter in complexion than the rest of your face.
  • It’s a good idea to skip the makeup as long as mask are worn. A better alternative would be to have a good skin care regimen.
  • Cleanse, tone and moisturize twice daily. Oily skin might require three times a day.
  • Cream based cleansers can often work for all skin types. They are gentle on your skin, even oily skin. Some of you have skin that’s becoming even more sensitive than it already is.
  • Allow your skin to breathe! Get sunlight to your face and the rest of your body for that matter. Sun bathe. Even if you live in the city, find a window that gets great sunlight and lay on the floor and catch the rays.
  • Keep your hands off your face. You are not always in gloves, which means you pick up everything … germs ,bacteria, you name it. Then you touch your face… Not Good.
