How to Handle Summer Skin Care With COVID on the Rise

How to Handle Summer Skin Care With COVID on the RiseSummer skin care and COVID-19, what an unlikely pair this season. Just when you thought you might get to enjoy the heat and have hot fun in the summertime, COVID ramps up. So should your summer skin care regimen.

Protecting your skin during summer heat and COVID is crucial. Not only will you be more susceptible to irritated skin behind your mask, the rest of you will have its moments of dryness as well.

How can you relieve the dryness and irritation to your skin?

Cleansers, serums, exfoliants and moisturizers.

Cleansers will help remove dirt, debris and mask moist bacteria. Milk based cleansers help soothe your skin especially sensitive skin. Gel based will help with oily skin. Essential oils such as tea tree, lavender and lemongrass are among the best to have in your home for skin care. You can easily add a drop or two to your cleansers and get the benefits of their use.

Serums will aid in nourishing your skin. From dry to inflamed, serums can help nourish and nurture your skin while treating the challenge.

Moisturizers help prevent dryness. They’re also known to reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles. One of the ingredients you want to look for is hyaluronic acid. It helps lock moisture into your skin.

A good blend of grapeseed and olive oil make a great moisturizer for your body after a nice hot shower.

Exfoliants will remove dead skin cell build up. This often leaves your skin looking dull, ashy and gray. Behind a mask in summer heat in particular, it’s a breeding ground for bacteria.

Your body skin will need to be exfoliated as well. We’re told that COVID is airborne. Therefore if someone coughs, sneezes, even sings and they’re a carrier, it puts you more at risk. These particles are now falling onto your skin and your clothes.

Keeping Your Mask Clean

Some of you will use cloth mask. Keeping them clean will be crucial. Not only do you have to contend with the mask and the heat they hold. There’s also the possible allergic reaction to your skin from detergent and materials they’re made of.

Some of the materials are causing your skin to itch, especially the disposable ones. This friction will create yet another bed for germs and bacteria to grow in. Keep a spray mist bottle of tea tree and lavender water in your car. Once you’re inside your car, you can remove your mask and mist your skin.

You can also keep it in your backpack and use it when you feel the need to refresh your face from the heat.

Finally …

Unless you really have to go outside, stay in your nice cool environment. At least I hope it’s cool. We find ourselves in a mess that we have no control over. Although it’s not a good place to be, let’s work with what we have to overcome it.

That’s it for this week. As always …
