Cooler Temperatures Bring change to Your Beautiful Black Skin and Hair [Update 2020]

Beautiful black skin and hair care in cooler temps.  As much as I don’t want to admit it, we are heading into fall. This means that your skin and hair care regimen will change and so will your wardrobe.

Let’s start off with Caring for your beautiful black skin.

Yes, you’ll need to pay close attention to your skin as the temperatures drop. As you ease the heat on to knock off the chill, know that this brings dry air into your room. The dry air will begin to suck the natural oils from your skin if you don’t intervene to take care of it.

Take your shower temperature from hot to warm. Add a cap full of jojoba oil to your bath water for that added moisturizing boost. To combat dry, itchy chapped skin be sure to exfoliate throughout the cooler months. The exfoliation process gives you fresh skin by removing the dead skin cells. This allows your moisturizer to work better by helping to keep the moisture in.

Don’t forget about your body butters for that all over softness that your skin craves.  Stepping out of the tub or shower, patting yourself dry and applying a nice creamy body butter is just what your body needs in cooler months.

Black Hair Care in Cooler Temps

You’ll want to pay close attention to your hair as temperatures begin to cool off as well.  The same dry heat that will wreck havoc on your skin, will do the same for your hair.  Step up your scalp moisturizers and lean more towards products that don’t strip your hair of its natural oils.

Careful with your head coverings!  Those wool caps can dry your hair out and cause breakage.

Not only will your skin care regimen change but so will your wardrobe choices. Here are a few things to consider:

As the weather cools down, so will your color choices for your wardrobe. While your basic color choices will often include gray, black and brown, don’t eliminate color completely. Reds, golds, fuchsias, turquoise and hints of green will make great accessories or focus pieces.

A vibrant scarf, a colorful bag, lemon-colored boots or a magenta belt can add great pizzazz to any outfit in your closet.  Not stepping out much because of the pandemic?  You still have Zoom calls you have to show up for, do it in style.

Make-up Trends

Fresh and natural seem to be at the forefront of the color pallets. It’s the season of wearing makeup without looking as though you’re wearing make-up. It’s a great way to showcase the best features of your face during the day.  And with mask being the new accessory, there will be less make up anyway.

Just because mask will cover your lips, doesn’t mean you don’t keep them moisturized.  Keep your chap stick or lip balm handy.  Think of it this way, you can bring out your beautiful eye shapes and color with shades of shadows and mascara.

When it comes to beautiful black skin and hair care in cooler temps …

The biggest key to anything concerning your skin, hair or wardrobe, is to Do You! The eclectic blend of fabrics or color combination of makeup, not to mention a skin care regimen that will present your skin like a flawless canvas. This will be your expression of self. Stay true to who your are.

That’s it for this week, short and sweet.  As always …
