How to Care for Black Skin the Right Way

Beautiful Black Flawless Skin

Want to care for black skin the right way? Stop looking for quick results. You cannot undo damage, overnight, that has occurred over time.

When you learn how to care for black skin the right way, you’ll understand the need for a regimen. Yes, you need a skin care regimen, with the right product for your skin type. Cleanse, tone and moisturize will get you off to a great start.

It’s time to ask yourself a few questions.

Self … (you talking)

What is my skin care challenge?
What caused it?
Did I seek out professional help or did I become the untrained professional?
What have I eaten lately?
What’s my stress level?

Answering these five questions will get you off to a good start in caring for your beautiful black skin.

What is my skin care challenge?

In order to care for your beautiful black skin the right way, you’ll need to know a bit about your skin type. Skin types are oily, dry, or a combination of the two. Normal skin is also a type. Then again, what is normal, especially these days.

It’s possible you have dark spots, uneven skin tones, dry, oily or a combination of all these skin challenges. Some of your challenges can come from allergic reactions to product ingredients. Thing is, you didn’t have a clue about any kind of allergy.

Then there’s the lack of a regimen. Yes, you need a skin care regimen, with the right product for your skin type. Cleanse, tone and moisturize and you off to a great start.

What caused it?

Oftentimes, skin challenges arise from various causes. Everything from hormonal changes … puberty, menopause, birthday control, … yes, these are hormone shifter’s in your body. They can cause all kind of challenges to your skin. Breakouts, oily skin, dry patches, to name a few.

Skin challenges can also be caused by the iron use of products. Some of you feel that a good way to get rid of oily skin is the cleanse with witch hazel and alcohol. Followed up by an exfoliant. Ouch!

Did you seek out professional help?

When you care for black skin the right way, you’ll need help from a professional. Why would you need professional help for a little oily skin? What’s causing the oily skin? And … if you’re treating it with a witch hazel and alcohol cocktail, you’re creating another problem.

Your skin is signaling your brain that it’s feeling dry. Your brain then triggers your skin to produce more oil. Get the picture?!

It’s not that you can’t care for your skin with a concoction that you create, it’s that you’ve got to know which ingredients to use in your concoction.

After all, creating your own concoction is how a lot of us, got started in the business of caring for our skin. We experimented and with some of the experiments, we made a mountain out of a mole hill. Had we seen a “ professional”, we might have saved our skin from a few skin burns and dark spots.

What have you eaten lately?

There’s no way you can think about caring for black skin the right way and not include nutrition. You are what you eat. Too much sugar can dehydrate your skin, so can too much salt.

Lots of green foods and fruit as well as grains, such as quinoa or brown rice. Eating in season and within 50 miles of where you live has been added to the healthy eating rule book. Okay, we know that’s not going to happen. At least it’s something to work towards.

Your Stress Level …

This is a joke … right?! We’re living in unprecedented times, a global pandemic. Most people you encounter are experiencing extremely high levels of stress. No one wants to hear, “this to shall pass”. Well, know that it will. The key is in how will you choose to handle it.

This is where long walks, yoga, meditation, a good cry and long baths come into play. Schedule some form of relaxation into your week. Not everyone can take time out everyday for these activities. If you can, all the better.

It’s important to get restful sleep. We all have nights when sleep isn’t restful and yes we wake up more tired than when we went to bed. This is when you truly find time in your day for one of your relaxation exercises.

The pandemic has added stress on top of existing stress. Therefore, you’ll want to be more conscious of caring for black skin the right way.

This should get you thinking about how you care for your black skin.    As always …
