How to Detox and De-stress at the Same Time, Awesome

Detox and de-stress. It’s amazing how toxic the air can feel when you constantly hear negative conversations day after day. A year of a pandemic, fear for your life from a health and physical standpoint and top it off with rhetoric that could cause an internal uprising. What do you have? Chaos …

How do you rid yourself of chaos and the daily fatigue from toxic conversations? Aside from turning off your television and notifications from your technical devices … You can escape to your bathtub.

Take a bath. Think I’m kidding? Not at all.

Your bathtub could save your sanity. Bathing is an age old remedy that’s been used for stress relief and detoxing for centuries. Books have been written on everything from the Art of the Bath to Spiritual Bathing. That being said, there’s always a chapter or two on using the bath to relieve stress and detox your body.

How to Use Your Bathtub to Detox and De-stress

Ingredients to the Rescue for Detoxing and De-stressing

If you’re looking for a way to detox and de-stress at the same time, it’s simple actually. Fill your tub with warm to hot water. Toss in a handful of Epsom salt. Then add a half cup of baking soda. Top it off with ten (10) drops of lavender essential oil. The beauty of this combination is in the ingredients.

You can make this solution up in larger batches, so that when you’re feeling out of sorts, you can toss a handful in your tub and soak.

Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. It’s known to help flush out toxins and heavy metals from your body. The process is called reverse osmosis.

Baking soda is top of mind when it comes to cleaning your oven, deodorizing your fridge or for making tooth paste. Yet the primary benefit of baking soda comes from detoxification. Western diets are filled with acidic foods and while changing the way you eat will work, you can actually neutralize the process from the outside in.

Did you know that a baking soda soak can soothe irritated skin and help replenish the elasticity in your skin?

Lavender essential oil is the go to oil to have in your emergency kit. Not only is it good for burns and scrapes, it is considered ” The” oil for relaxation. Lavender has been known to relieve anxiety and stress. It’s also been said to relieve aches and pains and help with a nervous stomach.

What’s Next After Your Detox and De-Stress Bath?

Once you rinse your body after your bath, slathering your skin with a nice body oil or body butter will complete your bath regimen.  One or both will help lock in the moisture and enhance your relaxed feeling.

A Bath is Good for Detoxing and De-stressing …

A bath after all, can often put you in a meditative state. That alone can help you de-stress. Adding other ingredients that help with ridding your body of toxins, is icing on the cake.

The next time you feel as if you need a take-me-away moment, find a bath tub and disappear for an hour.

That’s it for this week. As always …
