Oils
You love a good oil, especially when it comes to your body and your scalp. When checking out ingredients, look for olive oil, grape seed oil or jojoba oils.
Grape seed oil is high in vitamin E. Grape seed oil known for it ability to help strengthen collagen and maintain elastin in your skin. These are the proteins that make up your connective tissue in your skin and joints. This oil in particular is often used for massage oils or in body oil blends, for its toning properties. It’s also known to have astringent properties for toning and tightening your skin.
Because of its lightness in weight, grape seed oil can make a good scalp oil, especially when blended with essential oils.
Olive oil is a major source of plant-based squalene. Squalene is a lipid that’s produced naturally in your skin cells. The amount of squalene decreases as you mature, thereby resulting in dry skin.
You’ll find olive oil also used by soap makers. For years, castile soaps were made with 100% olive oil. Olive oil is an unsaturated oil, but when used in combination with saturated oils can create great soaps for some Black Skin.
Jojoba oil is technically a liquid wax ester. Because it contains triglycerides, it’s defined as an oil. It looks and acts like an oil, yet in cold weather, it will often solidify like coconut oil.
Jojoba oil is excellent for your skin. It’s known to regenerate, restructure and tone your skin. It provides a light film that helps maintain moisture and allows your skin to breathe at the same time.
