Honey, It’s Not Just For Sweetening Herbal Teas

Honey BathBee based ingredients offer a wealth of benefits when it comes to skin and hair care needs. That’s right, your jar filled with honey is not just for sweetening your herbal teas. Honey and beeswax are extremely unique and to date, there has yet to be a synthetic version created of these two ingredients.

Caring for the Skin You’re In With Honey

When it comes to beauty, honey and beeswax are known to promote healthy skin and hair, actually keeping it clean and healthy. Because of its nectars, pollens, resins and the bees’ own enzymes, honey is a powerful antimicrobial, inhibiting the growth of bacteria on your skin. It’s high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help slow down signs of aging. Because it’s a humectant, it moisturizes and soothes your complexion

You’re never too young to start caring for your skin.Honey can help reduce the signs of aging with the use of a mask. The darker the honey the more antioxidants it is said to contain. Couple that with wild oats and you’ve got the makings of the perfect honey mask for nurturing and nourishing your skin.

Honey In Your Bath

Honey is great for any skin type but especially dry skin. When used in your bath, it helps lock in all the moisture from the water. Sticky skin? No worries! Here’s a recipe for a honey bath that will have your skin feeling soft and silky without living any residual.

Honey Bath

1 cup of water
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup mild liquid soap (preferably Castile Soap)

How to Use:

Mix all the ingredients and pour them into a clean container. Gently shake to remix and pour 1/4 cup into the bath under running water. Bathe for 15 to 20 minutes. You can also add a few drops of essential oils for that added bit of aromatherapy. You’ll get about 16 ounces, enough for 8 baths.

Lip Balms, Hand Creams and Hair Packs

  • Most lip balms contain some beeswax.  It helps condition your lips and protects them from the elements.
  • Beeswax moisturizes the barrier of your skin and serves as an ideal base for hand creams.
  • Hair Packs and moisture to dry and damaged hair.  It can also help restore its color, shine and body.  If your hair is worn in locks, tread waters lightly when adding honey or any other ingredient to your hair.

Bees along with their pollen, nectars and beeswax have been in human presence for more than 9000 years, according to historians.  Enjoy their essence and moisturizing benefits for beautifying your beautiful black skin and natural hair.

That’s it for this week. As always…

Dedicated To Your Beauty,
